Rules & Regulations
The UM Animal Care and Use program must operate within the policies, standards, and guidelines set by the University, the State of Michigan, and the United States Government. These rules and regulations are in place to ensure that the animals used in research, teaching, and testing projects at the University are provided with the best possible treatment and care, under their particular circumstances.
Regulatory compliance is a major part of the UCUCA mission. The UCUCA provides the UM research community with information, guidance, and training necessary to properly care for laboratory animals. This relationship fosters animal welfare as well as accurate, valid scientific research.
