I tried to place an order, but ULAM told me I cannot order animals/drugs because my protocol is not "peer-reviewed." What does that mean?
That means your protocol is approved but we have not received evidence of funding at the time of approval. In order for a protocol to be considered peer-reviewed, it must be reviewed for scientific merit by a funding agency or the PI's department chair. The PI must submit to the UCUCA Office either a letter from the department chair stating that the project has been reviewed and has scientific merit, or a current award notice from the agency funding the study.
Can I order animals or drugs for one protocol using another protocol number or another PI's name?
No. The animals or drugs that you order can only be used for the protocol number and PI that are specified on the order form. If you are trying to order animals for one protocol and find out that protocol is out of animals, you need to amend that protocol and add more animals to it. Also, the protocol number on the form must match the PI on the form.
